humble beginnings

In 1972, we started farming organically on a few acres of pristine land in the Upper Skagit Valley of Washington's North Cascade Mountains. We were passionate about organic farming, so we read lots of books, tried (and sometimes failed) new techniques, and learned that necessity is often the mother of invention. Soon with the help of a small group of dedicated supporters, Cascadian Farm® became a thriving organic food company, preserving and selling the bounty of our harvests as jams, frozen fruits and vegetables.

We grew organically, starting at local farm stands, then regional farmers' markets like Pike Place in Seattle, and finally natural food stores along the West Coast. By the late 1980s, demand for our products had grown so much that we began partnering with other organic growers in the Pacific Northwest just to keep up. As time went on, we worked hard to recruit and train hundreds of organic growers around the nation and the world, ensuring our products would include only the finest organic ingredients.

my how we have grown

Now, we're a leading grower, marketer and distributor of a wide range of delicious organic products, from frozen fruit to breakfast cereals. Our products are sold throughout the U.S. in natural food stores and select supermarkets.

Despite our growth, we remain passionately committed to the place we began, our Cascadian Home Farm, where we continue to pioneer organic farming methods and serve as an integral part of the Skagit Valley community. Learn more about our farm!
